Reinventing Knight
Shout “I love Knight Rider” in the street and, providing there’s more than a few people about, you’re sure to get some kind of a response: someone is bound to scream in return “I love it too!” You might even get bombarded with hugs!
How many other shows can you think of that would get such a reaction? Not only might you hear terrible silence if you shouted “I loved Eldorado!” (if you haven’t heard of it you can consider yourself lucky–) you might well also end up in accident and emergency for the night–
Now the question of whether to continue the good old-fashioned story line or re-invent, the subject of debate at the following forum.
One of the trickiest questions ever, surely! They just can’t win, can they? If they perpetually carry on with the same old story then they receive complaints, and if they keep adding new characters and modernize everything they also come under fire!
So I propose this: why couldn’t they do both? Keep the original Knight Rider going as it was, all old fashioned and with that killer music, maybe even getting a brand new Michael Knight who bears more than a passing resemblance to The Hoff—or even ask The Hoff if they can use his face and CGI it onto a new body?—and also start a brand new Knight Rider, perhaps with Michael Knight in his old age (and use the real Hoff for this part, so I’m sure he’d agree because I hear he needs the money). After all, they reinvented Halloween, and that–well that wasn’t incredible, but it certainly brought it up to date and pleased a few people.
I agree fully with anyone who’s worried about the producers mixing together these two ideals: how can this make everyone happy? It can’t. The sooner the people with the power realize that, the sooner we can all be Knight Rider happy. Who knows, maybe other TV shows will take note?
